The 27 Club, also occasionally known as the Forever 27 Club or Club 27, is a name for a group of influential rock and blues musicians who all died at the age of 27..The 27 Club consists of two related phenomena, both in the realm of popular culture. The first is a list of five famous rock musicians who died at age 27—Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain.

Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones (28 February 1942 – †3 July 1969) was an English guitarist and one of the founding members of the English rock group The Rolling Stones. Jones was known for his use of multiple instruments, fashionable mod image, recreational drug excesses and his death at age 27.

Having drowned in a swimming pool, the coroner's report stated "death by misadventure".

James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest guitarist in the history of rock music by other musicians and commentators in the industry,   and one of the most important and influential musicians of his era across a range of genres.

 Autopsy showed he asphyxiated on vomit after combining sleeping pills with wine

Janis Joplin

Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – †October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter, and music arranger, from Port Arthur, Texas. She rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company, and later as a solo artist. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 46 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time,   and number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Probable heroin overdose.

Cause of death: Accident - Overdosis.

Jim Morrison

James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – †July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter, poet, writer and film maker. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors and is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic frontmen in rockmusic history.  He was also the author of several books of poetry  and the director of a documentary and short film. Although Morrison was known for his baritone vocals, many fans, scholars and journalists alike have referenced his theatrical stage persona, self-destructive lifestyle and his work as a poet.

Cause of death listed as "heart failure"; however, no autopsy was performed.

Cause of death: Heart Failure.

Ruled as suicide by shotgun.
